On behalf of the Ripley Summer Sports Committee, we have unfortunately made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 baseball season. The Committee is, however, planning on offering some training and clinics in the near future for those interested. We will be in touch as soon as those plans are in place.
The Summer Sports Committee has been working closely with Baseball Ontario and weighing all options to provide a season for the children. Those options included playing a shortened season once fields were reopened or extending our season into September to allow for a full season of games. As a committee, we discussed each option as well as the responses to a survey sent to registrants with regards to how the timing of the lifting of field use restrictions, physical distancing protocols, and the maximum number of participants would affect player schedules, practice times, and safety of our players, coaches, officials, and parents. Unfortunately, many of our area competition have also decided to cancel their seasons, creating further complications for scheduling.
Thank you for your patience during this pandemic experience. While we are saddened at the loss of our 2020 season, the safety and well-being of the players, parents and officials has always been our priority.
